motorcycle music speakersHow to get music on my motorcycle? How do I put on speakers and how do they work?

Seems like generally only larger touring bikes have radios but I like to listen to music and I figured it would be safer to put speakers on my bike than to listen to my mp3 with earphones which kind of block out all other sound.

Do they make some kind of speakers with a mp3 hookup I could put on my bike. My bike is a 1994 Suzuki Intruder VS800. How does it get hooked up? How much does it cost? What do you recommend?
It is not necessary to have a tourer but a fairing is useful to hang/hide the speakers. I used water-proofs from a boat shop. but Before MP3 so I had a radio cassette.Water-proofs are more expensive but they they don't bother with the cheap end stuff, worked great until a crosswindmotorcycle music speakers blew me off at 85+
You have a couple of options, you can mount motorcycle speakers on your handlebars or you can get speakers that mount inside your helmet. What I did was get a intercom system and installed speakers and a microphone inside my wife's and my helmet. I can plug my phone into the intercom and my MP3 player. Works cool, music is on until the phone rings or until someone talks, then the music stops and you can hear the conversation. Wiring isn't that difficult, but I modified mine for easier access. Look up motorcycle audio systems.
check out this site they should have everything you need with good prices. good luck and thats an awesome bike you have!!!
Yes they do, I just got motorcycle music speakersone. Called a shark radio system. It has two water proof speakers and a 100Watt amp. It also has a plug in jack for your mp3 player. I found it on the internet for $102.00 with shipping and handling. is the site I found mine at.

P.S. Depending on ware you put the speakers and the amp. You will have to, extend the wires.
The best speaker I installed on my Kawasaki is called a Kerker exhaust. At about 12,000 RPM, its music to my ears!

Just run audio wires from speakers to mp3 player. You will have to be creative on where to mount your speakers. Also think of protecting speakers from the elements with a custom enclosure just in case you get caught in the rain.
