renault explorerGuys, I want to buy a car, please help me to decide:?

NRI for 11 years living in Dubai and now in Jeddah. Here cars and SUV are at international price, same price like in USA (tax based country), We have new Ford Mercury Mountaineer AWD 4 litre 6 cylinder with leather cruise control, ABS, EBS, Climate control, electric mirror in Jeddah, it is really fantastic 4X4 SUV.

I thought of Toyota Fortuner / Ford Endeavour 4X4 Auto. Both these cars are very costly in India, they are sucking Indian consumer. Fortuner is costing here Rs 10.5-11.5L and Ford Explorer 4 litre 10.5-12L. These show room prices include 15% duty + 15-20% profit margin of distributors. These SUV at Rs.18/18.5 L are really costly w/o cruise controls. However, we thought to buy one of these, but are afraid from the law and order situation in Bihar, my native place.

Want to buy car for dad, a retired govt officer to use movement in city and to visit native village. We will use the car during annual leave (for 30 days max). During this period we shall visit relatives. So city & Rural Driving mix - 50-50.

Petrol or diesel no problem. Must be noise and vibration free driving experience with a/c renault exploreron and window closed. Power steering & window a must. Power mirror, ABS,EBS, Auto Gear, desirable but not necessary. Must have international comfort, safety, finish. Price range 4 - 7.5 max. Please advise the best out of the following models.

Swift, Swift Desire, Ikon
Renault, Ford Fiesta, SX4, Fiat Linea,

For your father, Swift/Swift Desire Diesel would be the best.No vibration,noise,negligible maintenance and Maruti service is easily available.Mileage is also about 20kms/lt in Diesel which makes it the cheapest to run.
Ikon/Fiesta require lots in maintenance, problems cropping up every now & then. SX4 sales plummeted down as it no good. Mahindra Renault has still to prove itself in the market and the same holds for Fiat Linea (Fiat parts are made available by the dealer after days or weeks and the car is stuck).
In resale too Swift/Swift Desire Diesel tops the list.
according to what you need , i advise you to select between Dzire and SX4, i have driven both the cars and i find both of them at ease.
Fiat linea or ford fiesta...both are powerful cars and smoothrenault explorer...both cars have been tested and have many safety measures...fiat linea has very good looks and though it costs around 7 lakhs..but looks increase the rate of the car...go for it..its very good...
The Fiat is the best choice among the cars you listed

I think a hatch will be more suitable for you because, you are a guest user only on this car, this car should meet your dad's convenient and requirements. I can't see any right pick in your selection (above), instead Maruti Ritz Petrol (Full option) will be my pick.
Ritz tall seating will be very convenient for getting in and out, compact in size and reasonable space.
Or, u can consider Honda Jazz (Pricey, when you compare size vs price) and Hyundai i20 if you are interested in auto transmission (Only available with automatic transmission in this segment).
